My name is Claire Vergnes, I am a designer and ergonomist from France. I have lived most of my life abroad in roughly 9 countries and hope to continue to pursue this international experience in hopes of further grasping the human experience and developing outside knowledge to the fullest.
I am interested in developing further professional experience in the Architecture and Urban Planning industry. I am also dedicated to pursuing a PhD and becoming a potential lecturer in Design.
Humanist
Humanism is a core value that follows my practice throughout my work and holds considerable importance in decision-making. This understands humans as being humans and goes beyond user-centricity with respect to empathy, human needs, beliefs and aspirations. This value lead me to further develop knowledge in human factors and drive in becoming an ergonomist.
Designer
I hold a BA in Design from Lancaster University, where I developed knowledge beyond the scope of traditional disciplines such as graphic or product design and learned to place Design as an entity holding a central role in shaping the world around us. I developed skills to solve complex cultural and social problems by combining design thinking with innovation, technology, business and research; actively responding to rapid changes in technology, complex societal challenges and the pressing need for new ways of thinking about the world. My dissertation focused on "Smell and Design, an investigation on olfactory perception".
Although I am not specialised in a specific field of Design, I always bring my skills in design thinking and keenness to learn more through hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment with a range of stakeholders.
Ergonomist
I hold an MSc in Ergonomics and Human Factors from Loughborough University where I specialised in Inclusive Design. I studied subjects such as cognitive, physical, organisational and environmental ergonomics, human factors and systems thinking, interaction and experience design, assessing workplace safety and recommendation through the application of standards (ISO, BSOL etc.) as well as data collection and statistical analysis. Ergonomics allow for holistic assessment of spaces, workplaces, experiences from knowledge gathered from empirical evidences in the aims of increasing performance, safety and human wellbeing.
Illustrator
As a creative outlet, I practice illustration to illustrate and visualise what I'd like to convey. You can find my illustrations across my portfolio!
