This design consultancy was a requirement for my undergraduate at Lancaster University. The team in which I was in, constituted of Harith, Tara, Peter, Nola and myself. Our client was CityBlock Lancaster a student housing provider in Lancaster.
This project was conducted with the purpose of seeing how health-promoting behaviours for students can be nurtured in specific residential areas, and then reflecting on how CityBlock can benefit from this value creation to retain their competitive advantage. Our group focused on providing a framework as well as new design value propositions in areas which influences student well-being such as social spaces, facilities, and physical attributes. As outcome of this design research consultancy, our team developed three specific but interrelated design and service solutions to enhance CityBlock residents’ experience in this housing provider.
As a designer, I was interested in developing and creating spaces for better interaction between residents as well as reinforcing CityBlock’s services, by creating a safe space for students to allow further familiarity and attachment. This would imply an impact-full change for residents as well as for our client CityBlock.
These are some pictures of the space design changes we introduced.
